ABOUT THE WORK

Never quite
the same.

Four virtual tapes play different fragments of the same voice recording. As their speeds diverge, the words, rhythms and spaces between them shift.

Start or pause each tape independently. Reverse its direction, change its speed, or open “Loop region” to move the loop boundaries. Echo lets the voice linger. Wow & flutter introduces a gentle irregularity.

All sound comes from the original recording and is processed in your browser.

Headphones and a low volume are a good place to begin.
